Terms of Service
Caloroot is provided by Synkify, a sole proprietorship registered in the Netherlands. By downloading or using Caloroot you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Who can use Caloroot
Caloroot is for adults. You must be 18 or over to create an account. It is not designed for children and we do not knowingly provide it to them.
Your account
- Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep it current.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us promptly at krmghazzi@gmail.com if you think someone else has got into it.
- You can delete your account at any time. See Delete your account.
Acceptable use
Do not use Caloroot to break the law, to attack or overload the service, to attempt to access other people’s data, to reverse engineer or resell the app, or to submit content you have no right to submit. We may suspend or close an account that does any of these.
AI features
Caloroot can estimate nutrition from a meal photo using a third-party AI model, in one of two ways.
- With your own API key. You supply a key from a provider you choose. You are responsible for that key, for the cost of the requests it makes, and for complying with that provider’s terms. We do not control their pricing, availability or output.
- With a Caloroot subscription. We make the request on your behalf using our own provider account, subject to any fair-use limits described in the app.
AI estimates are approximations produced by a statistical model. They can be wrong, sometimes substantially. Treat them as a starting point, not a measurement.
Subscriptions and billing
- Subscriptions are sold and billed through Google Play, not directly by us. Google’s payment terms apply.
- They renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel in the Google Play Store under Payments and subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Deleting your Caloroot account does not cancel a subscription. You must cancel it in Google Play separately.
- Refunds follow Google Play’s refund policy. If you are a consumer in the EU, your statutory rights, including the 14-day right of withdrawal where it applies, are unaffected by anything in these terms.
- We may change subscription pricing. Changes are notified in advance and never apply to a period you have already paid for.
Caloroot is not medical advice. It calculates general nutrition targets using standard published formulas. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose or treat anything, and it is no substitute for a doctor or a registered dietitian. Do not rely on it to manage a medical condition. Speak to a healthcare professional before making significant changes to your diet, and particularly if you are pregnant, have an eating disorder, diabetes, kidney disease or any other condition affected by what you eat.
Accuracy of nutrition data
Food data comes from public sources including the USDA database and Open Food Facts, plus entries created by users. We do not guarantee any of it is complete or correct. Check the packaging where it matters.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep Caloroot running but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Features may change or be withdrawn, and the app depends on third-party services that can fail or change their own terms. We may update these terms; if a change is significant we will give notice in the app or by email, and continuing to use Caloroot after that means you accept the new version.
Ending these terms
You may stop using Caloroot and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, or if we discontinue the service, in which case we will give reasonable notice where we can.
Liability
Caloroot is provided as is. To the fullest extent Dutch law allows, Synkify is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for decisions you make based on the app’s estimates. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights are unaffected.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Netherlands. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
